Judy moved to Charlottesville in 1984 while employed by an organization that sponsored one of the 403(b) retirement choices at the University of Virginia. Working with the university community, she realized there was a genuine need to help people navigate through the myriad of benefit choices along with providing financial planning designed for individual family needs. This new career passion inspired her dedication to seek additional credentials beyond her securities licenses.

In 2006, Judy started her own company, The Legacy Foundation, LLC, realizing the need to incorporate holistic financial planning and investment management. The Legacy Foundation has continued to reach new milestones within the industry and has recently met the requirements of becoming a B Certified company implementing sustainable investment themes within client portfolios.  The Legacy Foundation also has a partnership with Fidelity allowing for advisory services on retirement accounts within the university community. Additionally, Judy has been a member of the Chairman’s Council with LPL Financial, the largest independent broker/dealer in the United States, since 2013. 

Judy is also an active member of the Women Presidents Organization (WPO) which is an organization for female business owners from all over the world who strive to be leaders in their communities; cultivate and inspire continue success through sharing professional challenges and finding solutions as a support group.   

Judy holds the following security licenses and designations: Series 6, Series 7, Series 24, Series 63.  She is life and health licensed and is credentialed as a Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) through the American College for Financial Planning and Accredited Asset Management Specialist (AAMS) through The College for Financial Planning. She has provided financial services in the university community for over 30 years.

In her free time, she enjoys long distance biking, hiking, traveling, reading and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Patrick brings a wide range of financial and operational experience to The Legacy Foundation. Prior to joining the firm, Patrick was an investment banking associate at Bank of America in the Financial Institutions Group. His experience covers buy-side and sell-side merger and acquisition transactions in the Bank and FinTech industries. As the Director of Business Development at The Legacy Foundation, he is responsible for building partnerships and growing relationships that will enhance the client experience. As a former Navy pilot, Patrick’s attention to detail and leadership skills enable him to also provide operational oversight at Legacy. Patrick holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of North Carolina Kenan-Flagler Business School and a Bachelor of Science degree from the United States Naval Academy. Patrick, his wife, and two daughters enjoy exploring the wonderful outdoor opportunities that Charlottesville has to offer.

Natalie joined the Legacy Foundation in June 2023. Prior to joining the team, Natalie worked for a financial advising firm in her hometown in the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago. She has worked in operations and client services since graduating from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor of Communication & Information Sciences degree in 2019. Having previously lived in Charlottesville immediately post-grad, she is happy to be back enjoying the mountains and milder weather. In her free time, Natalie enjoys trying new restaurants with friends, traveling to visit her four sisters, and volunteer work.

Richard serves as The Legacy Foundation’s Investment Analyst and Wealth Manager Assistant. His experience is vast and stretches across various sectors in financial services. Richard joins Legacy after spending five years with Morgan Stanley Wealth Management. Prior to Morgan Stanley, Richard began his career as an audit associate at KPMG, where he gained extensive knowledge of Asia’s emerging markets through group audit projects for major public companies. Richard holds a Master of Finance degree from Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor of Economics degree from the University of Science and Technology Beijing. As a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) Charterholder, he possesses a thorough understanding of investment and portfolio management. In his free time, Richard enjoys swimming, playing tennis, and visiting museums.
