Dear Friends,

As we approach the end of 2020 and the upcoming holiday season, your advocates at the Legacy Foundation would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude for your trust and confidence in our ability to guide you through the financial challenges and the life changes you face.

This year’s road to success was especially ambiguous and demanded a call to global action on many different fronts – climate change, racial inequities, pandemic, and a political divide inhibiting many policies that serve the best interest of the American people. These were not undisclosed surprises, but rather shifts that have been festering for many years.

Our hope and commitment are that we continue to enhance our research abilities aiming towards better results for your family’s planning goals and financial outcome regardless of economic uncertainties. Equally important to our mission at the Legacy Foundation is to play a strategic role in identifying community projects that help elevate those families most compromised during these times. In this light, we have prioritized our corporate goals and governance to the following projects for 2021.

After reviewing several different community programs, The Piedmont Housing Alliance struck a chord with us as having a clear vision and commitment to building a better life for families in a community that has been isolated from the growth and prosperity of the Charlottesville area. Many cities across America have similar stories regarding certain urban communities that have been disenfranchised due to socio-economic impediments. With this in mind, we decided to partner and contribute resources to a well thought out project that directly influences citizens of Charlottesville – Friendship Court/Piedmont Housing Alliance. To learn more about Friendship Court and The Piedmont Housing Alliance (please click here), a development that includes the expertise and support from UVa’s School of Architecture, Barbara Wilson, Ph.D. who clearly understands how social values, specifically regarding ecology and equity, are coded into the built world. Dr. Wilson is interested in design and development efficacy and received the Jefferson Trust Award (please click here) for excellence in community engagement. Her guidance helped us decide on Friendship Court as the recipient of our community contributions now and into the future.

The second cause we will embrace is with our investment philosophies and adaptations that are in line with global contributions towards Socially Responsible Investing (SRI). We have already researched leaders in this investment space that have demonstrated success in their screening process, and the results have translated into better performance for our clients’ portfolios. When companies are committed to ‘doing the right thing,’ it serves as a filtering process for our investment themes that result in successful growth opportunities. Joining a global engagement for the betterment of the planet is a winning proposition for everyone. We invite you to view our website to learn a bit more about what Environmental Social Governance means in the way of our screening process and your portfolio allocation.

We, at the Legacy Foundation, are excited about the ingenuity that has been inspired across many disciplines of industry growth, albeit through difficult times.

Wishing you a Healthful and Happy Holiday Season! We look forward to seeing you at our new offices at 1415 Rolkin Court, Suite 204 in 2021!
